Her eyes snap open, wide and bright. Her gaze locked straight ahead,
unflinching, unblinking. Irises, layers of blue and silver, almost alive
with Magic—behind them, a story waiting beneath the surface, ready to
break through.
She senses something.
Something… familiar.
It’s him. He has arrived.
Her eyes slide to the side, just a fraction,
her head following with a slow, slight turn and tilt—
drawn to the shadows at the edge of her vision.
His silhouette waits.
The fog, thick and warm, wraps her like a weighted blanket as she and
her team capture a fleeting moment of respite. Low, sporadic clouds
drift overhead, moon and starlight peeking through their cracks. Minions
move in the gloom, scanning the ruins for them.
No time for them now—he is the prize.
She steps toward him, intent and without hesitation or fear—the hackles
of Magic following close behind.
Suddenly, the world seems to tremble.
Somewhere far off, a voice cuts through the battlefield noise—soft,
urgent, familiar.
“Lela…”
She doesn’t look back. Not now. She takes another step, eyes locked on
him as they begin to glow a fiery blue and silver.
The ground trembles beneath her feet.
“Lela. LELA! You’re going to be late!”
Her eyes snap open. Ava is leaning over her, nudging her shoulder as
sunlight breaks through—her eyes frantically trying to hang on to the
dancing glow of silver and blue as it slips away.
